I just hope some one knows some thing really sweet and helpful. There are several strategies to repair it that I can think of, but I am not a coder so these things are not going to happen on my account. The difficulty of using the hyperlink dialog seems like a weakness in Open Office, to me. But both of these require mouse-movement and clicks. The other is to click on the cell contents bar. Edit mode can be entered normally in two alternate ways. There is only one thing in this sequence I cannot do with keystrokes. I think at this point I may even be able to arrow down to the next address and start over. So if I have copied my link and then I highlight my text-label, I can go to the hyperlink dialog, paste the address, tab down to the apply button, and close the dialog. but when I get there I have no way to insert the label.Įxcept that if the cell with the label is selected, If I enter the edit mode for the contents of the cell, and highlight the contents of the cell, just before invoking the hyperlink dialog, the text I want "automatically" appears in the text-label box. I can copy the contents of the cell, open the hyperlink dialog, paste, and tab down to the text-label box, all with keystrokes. I start with one cell in Calc having the name of the link I want to use. Doing so terminates the hyperlink dialog and loses the previously pasted text. It is not possible to paste to one field and retrieve the text of the second field. The problem is that there are two fields in the hyperlink dialog but only one field in the copy-paste repertoire. I am trying to depend entirely on shifts and keystrokes. To ensure that the macro works correctly, I want to avoid recording mouse movements and clicks. So I need to use the hyperlink dialog box to create the hotlinks. Since these hotlinks are file:// and not Http://, Open Office doesn't automatically convert my addresses to hotlinks. I have installed AutoHotkey, SciTE$Autohotkey, and Pulover's Macrocreator, and they do provide the tools I need, including the very basic instructions to cursor left and right, and enter shift keys so it is possible to invoke menus. I have hundreds to do, so I am conspiring to write a macro to go under a hotkey. My task is to create hotlinks from a simple label in a Calc Spread sheet to another file in a nearby directory on the same hard drive.
